This original and very unique mackerel painting has been hand-painted on a stunning piece of driftwood. The wood is marine ply so most likely formed part of a boat at some point in its life but I found it locally on a Cornish beach.  The wood has only been lightly sanded to maintain it's character and the mackerel have been painted around the beautiful knots in the wood so as to retain the original characteristics of the wood. 
 
This mackerel painting comes complete with a saw-tooth picture hangers ready to hang on your wall. This unique mackerel painting would look beautiful in a kitchen, lounge, bedroom, hallway or conservatory and would make a lovely, unique gift for sardine-loving friend or family member or fisherman.
 
I only paint wildlife on wood as I love using wood as a natural and sustainable background to my artwork. Much of the wood that I work with is reclaimed and therefore has some beautiful markings and character that deserve to be preserved and celebrated. This is a one-off piece of mackerel art and having been coated in a flat matt varnish for protection, it should stand the test of time and can be treasured for a life-time.
