Meet "Basil" the handsome blackbird. This blackbird painting on spalted maple is one of my original bird paintings on wood. The wood itself I found at a local reclamation yard has some absolutely beautiful markings on, known as spalting. The wood has been sanded to a minimum so as to preserve as much of the original character of the driftwood as possible.
