This is "Bessie" the Blue Tit. This small blue tit painting on reclaimed wood has been hand-painted in acrylic paint on a beautiful piece of timber which used to form part of Bournemouth's Sea defence. This piece of reclaimed wood not only has some history to it but it also has some beautiful and very original markings which give the impression of a tree in the background of the painting.

I only paint wildlife on wood as I love using wood as a natural and sustainable background to my artwork. Much of the wood that I work with is reclaimed and therefore has some beautiful markings and character that deserve to be preserved and celebrated. This is a one-off piece of bird art on wood and having been coated in a flat matt varnish for protection, it should stand the test of time and can be treasured for a life-time.
