This is "Betsie" the charming hare.

The wood has a beautiful grain as well as a live edge and I have painted Betsy so as to celebrate the beauty of the natural wood and its glorious markings; the live-edge giving it a particularly rustic and woodland feel. I paint British wildlife on wood rather than canvas as I love using wood as a natural and sustainable background to my artwork. Much of the wood that I work with is reclaimed and therefore has some beautiful markings and character that deserve to be preserved and celebrated for years to come. This is a one-off piece of British wildlife art and having been coated in a flat matt varnish for protection, it should stand the test of time and can be treasured for a life-time.
